Wal-Mart plans to hire 100,000 veterans

Wal-Mart has committed to helping our nations veterans by having retail jobs available to them. They project to provide 100,000 jobs to veterans over the next five years. The announcement comes at a time when Wal-Mart is trying to improve its image, due to the exposure of negative dealings. The hiring program will be available to veterans who were honorably discharged in the past 12 months, which is in-line with the White House’s program to hire veterans. The scope of jobs will range from retail associate to management positions. Wal-Mart is set to get tax breaks for the initiative under the fiscal-cliff deal. It can be hard for veterans to find work, so this is a step in the right direction to serve our nation’s service members.
