Troops to See 1.8 Percent Pay Raise if Bill Passes

A new bill has been proposed by House Republicans to make several changes of the annual defense authorization bill. One of the changes proposed is to increase troop pay by 1.8%, as well as eliminating 24 general and flag officer billets, prohibit commanders from dismissing court martials, and allowing Special Operations Command to use funding for family programs. Increases to Tricare fees for retirees has also been discussed, but dismissed each time. Sexual assaults are also a big topic of the bill due to the increase of sexual harassment cases in the military and the evidence of cases amongst sexual assault officers.
