To color wash furniture is to add a dramatic dimension using subtle layers of colors. It is a painting technique that uniquely energizes a furniture from looking plain to dynamic. This can be achieved by applying a thin glaze, or water-based wash over the base coat of paint where you will create an effect. For a muted look, try this color-wash technique on any unsealed material -- wood, terra-cotta, wicker, and bamboo all absorb watered-down paint pigment.
