Finding Home Again After Deployment

Reintegrating after deployment can be a hard process for families. Although what is portrayed in the media of happy reunions and numbers of yellow-ribbon supporting patrons is true, that truth only lasts for a fleeting moment. Families, particularly husbands and wives, have a lot of readjusting to do once the other has returned from deployment. Each person has grown and changed during the time apart, and most importantly, it has been done independently of the other person. This means that the person you left is not the person you are coming home to. This presents many challenges and awkward moments. The military has created programs to cater to families and reunions, however with the end of the wars coming, more information and training is needed in this area.
